What is the difference between an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and Candidate Relationship Management Software (CRM) ?

Both ATS and CRM focus on managing the candidates and database of the recruitment process. They complementary to each other.

What is Applicant Tracing System?

ATS will increase the productivity and fasten your recruitment process. ATS focuses on the part of the recruitment process that pertains to creating a database and tracking the candidates through out the recruitment process.
It acts as a centralized database system for the hiring managers for the various job openings, active candidates,evaluation, interview scheduling and other aspects of the recruitment process.
IN other words it’s a private-evaluated-talent pool

What is Candidate Relationship Management software?

CRM is the proactive version of ATS. It is designed to have a better relationship with the potential employees.It helps the hiring managers to keep in touch with the potential candidates . It helps the TA team to better engagement with the candidates. It is not only used by the employers but also helpful to the candidates to a certain extent.
It may give you analysis and deeper insights of the candidates.

Should you buy ATS or CRM?

Both of them are complementary to each other as mentioned earlier.If have limited financial resources,a good ATS would suffice and would be more than enough. And if you are bigger corporation and budget is not an issue then you should definitely get a CRM as well. It shall help.
